Denver, the capital of Colorado located at 1,600 meters above sea level, offers a semi-arid continental climate ideal for RV exploration, with over 300 sunny days per year. The marked seasonal variations and fluctuating rental rates according to the period make planning a key element to optimize your adventure.
From March to May, Denver gradually awakens with temperatures rising from 14°C in March to 23°C in May. Spring is the rainiest season of the year, with precipitation mainly from thunderstorms between mid and late season. This is the ideal time to explore the blooming surroundings of Denver, especially the trails of the nearby Rocky Mountains. RV rental rates remain moderate during this period, offering excellent value for money before the high summer season.
Between June and August, Denver experiences its peak season with temperatures around 30°C, particularly in July when highs reach 34°C. This period is perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and mountain biking around Denver and towards mountain resorts like Aspen, Breckenridge, or Vail. However, July is the most expensive month to rent an RV, with rates reaching around 218 euros per night, reflecting high tourist demand.
September is considered the best time to visit Denver, combining very pleasant weather with temperatures ranging from 10°C in the morning to 25°C in the afternoon, significant sunshine, and minimal precipitation (less than 25 mm). Autumn offers ideal conditions to explore the region without the summer crowds, while rental rates begin to decrease. October extends this pleasantness with still acceptable temperatures before the cold gradually sets in.
From December to March, Denver transitions into winter with minimum temperatures dropping to -15°C in January and February. This season offers ideal conditions to access ski resorts in the Colorado mountains like Aspen, Breckenridge, and Vail. RV rental rates drop significantly, with January showing average prices around 114 euros per night, making this period very economical for van travelers. The abrupt weather changes characteristic of Denver's climate can alternate between snowy days and almost spring-like days, requiring appropriate clothing preparation.

Denver, the gateway to the Rockies and the vast spaces of Colorado, attracts many travelers in RVs or vans, but it is essential to know the local rules for driving, sleeping, and fully enjoying the region.
In Denver, a valid driver's license from your home country is generally sufficient to drive an RV, but it is recommended to have an international license to avoid any misunderstandings. The roads around Denver, such as I-70 or US-6, impose strict restrictions for heavy vehicles, especially in the Rim Rock Drive tunnels at Colorado National Monument, where the maximum allowed height is 10.6 feet. Large vehicles cannot take certain routes, such as Wetherill Mesa Road at Mesa Verde National Park, which is prohibited for RVs over 25 feet.
Wild camping is strictly prohibited in Denver and throughout Colorado, except in official RV parks or designated campgrounds. Areas like Denver West KOA or Rocky Mountain National Park RV Park offer equipped sites to connect and spend the night legally. It is forbidden to extend beyond the perimeter of your vehicle with tables, chairs, or awnings, as this is considered wild camping and may result in a fine.
In Denver, security is heightened in natural and tourist areas, especially in national parks like Rocky Mountain National Park, where checks are frequent. It is advisable to always respect local rules, particularly by avoiding parking in residential streets or near parks without permission. Free parking areas are rare in the city, but secured parking lots like those at Denver International Airport sometimes offer options for RV travelers.
You must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver's license to rent an RV in Denver. No special license is required; a standard license is sufficient. If you are traveling with other drivers, they must also be at least 21 years old and listed on the rental agreement.
Yes, several rental companies in Denver offer one-way rentals. You can pick up your RV in Denver and return it in another city. Additional fees apply, generally starting at $349. Discounts may be available depending on the routes. Contact your rental company directly to find out about available return options.
In Denver, you can park an RV in most public parking lots for up to 72 hours, checking height restrictions. Long-term parking (over 24 hours) is limited downtown. For extended parking, use RV parks, campgrounds, or storage facilities. Some rental companies offer on-site parking for about $10 to $15 per night.
Yes, RVs rented in Denver generally include a fully equipped kitchen, bedding, cooking utensils, camping chairs, and basic insurance. Some models offer a two-burner stove, propane, a cooler or a 12V refrigerator, and refillable water jugs. Check your offers for specific equipment included in your rental.
Yes, RV rentals in Denver generally accept pets. However, you must keep them secure while driving and clean up after them at camping sites. Never leave your pet alone in the RV in hot weather. Check your rental company's specific policies regarding pets in our detailed offers. Search using the form at the top of the page!
Vehicles rented in Denver are automatically winterized from October 31 to March 31. You can pay an additional fee for de-winterization if conditions allow. Upon return, you are responsible for re-winterizing the vehicle if necessary. A winterization fee of $150 applies if the vehicle is returned not winterized. Damage caused by freezing is your responsibility.
Yes, towing is allowed in Denver with certain restrictions. The towed object cannot exceed 1,500 pounds. The combined length of the RV and trailer must not exceed 65 feet. Only one trailer at a time is allowed.
In Denver, as in most cities, motorhome rental agencies are not located in the centre but on the outskirts.

We rented a truck camper in June for a road trip in the state of Washington. Everything went well. This is the second time we've rented with Cool Drive. I recommend it.
In case of a problem, there is no longer any contact or representative, among other things...
a reservation that was made 2 years ago and put on hold due to Covid. We kept in touch during these 2 years with our contact person (very nice) and we were able to finalize our trip under perfect conditions. Price and characteristics of the motorcycles respected. Thank you again to the whole team.
Clear booking procedure
Preparation, contact, and rental were perfect. Nothing to complain about.
I highly recommend.
Everything was perfect.
no particular problems
Very well

I was able to access the services of a reputable rental company, Eagle Rider, at a better rate than on the rental company's website.
One small downside: the Indians offered on the Eagle Rider site are not available on Cooldrive.
No worries, we were properly registered with Eagle-Rider. The only small downside was that the motorcycle reserved, a Heritage Softail, which is lighter and lower, thus easier for a woman to ride, was not available. I was offered a Road King, which is taller and heavier. Having already had difficulties with that motorcycle due to my small frame, I insisted on getting a bike with a lower seat heigh...
For the second time, we rented our motorcycles with Cooldrive. Perfect service. Nothing to complain about.
Very competitive quote, COOLDRIVE takes care of everything and on top of that we are sure to get the motorcycle we ordered.
First rental of this type of vehicle in a professional context where the rental must take place from France to Canada. Many questions and Cooldrive (Marlène) has been a valuable support in guiding my choices. Efficiency and responsiveness beforehand, and on-site a vehicle and service that met our expectations. No complaints. Great!
Too rigid computer system
Very good customer experience with Cooldrive. I highly recommend it! Thanks to the team who were attentive and available for organizing my trip to Canada.
Great experience with Cooldrive. I highly recommend it 100%. Reliable, attentive, available, responsive. Thanks to Marléne for her support.
Initially, the camper offered online was not available, but a good alternative was quickly provided. The communication regarding the various steps to be taken is clear. The camper was from 2025 and was clean and complete. The pick-up in Norway took longer than expected (4 hours), but in the end, it became a vacation to never forget. Highly recommended!
No unpleasant surprises
Cooldrive recommended that I take out insurance, which turned out to be unable to handle an issue that arose during the stay.
Top rates and service
Impeccable
Quick and efficient response
Everything was quick and quite simple. Just a small downside upon arrival, we waited a good amount of time before being taken care of.
Perfect
Interesting price, clear file and follow-up. Very easy to get answers to our questions, very pleasant staff.
We rented a campervan for a trip to Iceland. Everything went well. Good service from Cooldrive.
Great vacation in the Baltic States. When everything goes well, it is easy to speak highly of the people who helped you. But beyond the quality of the vehicle and the welcome from the rental company, it is also important to note the support received from Cooldrive, which responded quickly to all our requests. This provides a sense of security that allows you to truly relax, knowing that in case of...
great experience! The CoolDrive agents are very helpful with all the procedures
Incorrect information about the rental dates resulting in a charge for an additional day despite my inquiries to Cool Drive right after my booking. Refusal to modify my reservation because it did not lead to a change in price. Incorrect information confirmed by the rental company that was expecting a response the next day...
